Adolescent Program: Policy Lab

Afia Mubashir is Co-Course Director of the Adolescent Policy Lab for PCOS/PMOS Awareness Symposium 2026 – Boston. She is a youth advocate and high school student and serves as Chief Operations Officer of MĚI, a women- and youth-led initiative dedicated to advancing menstrual equity and empowering menstruators.

At MĚI, Afia has overseen advocacy efforts supporting menstrual education legislation in Hawaiʻi, the publication of legal briefs on menstrual access and the development of a children’s book aimed at destigmatizing menstruation. She has also served as a youth speaker at Princeton University’s FEMALEFOUNDED Conference and the International Conference on Computational Social Science (IC2S2 2026), and as a two-time youth delegate to the United Nations, including engagements with the Chair of the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly and the Youth & AI Summit.

Afia is also passionate about responsible technology policy, particularly at the intersection of technology and gender-based harm. She has advocated for more equitable technology policies through the UN Youth & AI policy findings and conducted demographic research on chatbot anthropomorphism to inform policy, presenting her findings at IC2S2 2026. Her work focuses on advancing equitable technology and menstrual health policies that promote access, autonomy and inclusion.
