
Robert A. Wild, MD, MPH, PhD
Robert A. Wild, MD, MPH, PhD is Presidential Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Adjunct Professor of Family and Preventive Medicine and Biostatistics and Clinical Epidemiology in the School of Public Health at the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, OK. He is an experienced clinician investigator with a focus on primary prevention strategies for women’s health combining Gynecology and Preventive Cardiology based on best evidence. He is devoted to patient care, research and higher education through teaching and mentoring Medical Students, Residents, Masters and PhD students, and fellow faculty. He practices and teaches Principles of Evidenced Based Practice, and is a national consultant in Ob/Gyn, Menopause, Reproductive Endocrinology and Preventive Cardiology. His Doctorate is in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the OUHSC Graduate College University of Oklahoma. He is a Full Member of the Graduate College in Biostatistics and Epidemiology and has a Faculty appointment in the Clinical and Translational Science Master’s Program where he mentors fellows and faculty chairing or serving on Masters and Doctoral Committees.
Dr. Wild is a board certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist, Reproductive Endocrinologist, Clinical Lipidologist, Preventive Cardiologist and Menopause Practitioner (North American Menopause Society). He is consistently listed in Best Doctors in Oklahoma, Guide to America’s Best Obstetricians/Gynecologists and Best Doctors in America. He has held leadership positions and/or is a member of the major societies in his specialties. He is past president of the American Society of Preventive Cardiology, the National Lipid Association SW, the Society of Reproductive Endocrinologists, the Oklahoma City Obstetrical and Gynecological Society, and Council of the Society of Gynecologic Investigation. He serves/served on national committees for the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, North American Menopause Society, the National Lipid Association, and the NIH. His reviews include the National Institute of Health served on many Study Section and Review panels for the National Cancer Institute, the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development – both for the extramural and intramural branches – the National Institutes on Aging, NIDDK, NHLBI, and the Office of Research on Women’s Health. He is the only gynecologist to have received a Preventive Cardiology Award from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. He advised(s) for the Office of Women’s Health Research (ORWH) at the National Institutes of Health and the NHLBI and the Federal Drug Administration re Gynecologic and other Women’s Health issues. He is a funded investigator for the NICHD.
Dr. Wild is published widely in and reviews for numerous journals in Women’s Health. He has or currently serves on editorial boards for: Journal of the Society of Reproductive Investigation, Journal of Women’s Health, Menopause, Fertility and Sterility, and Journal of Clinical Lipidology where he is Associate Editor for Women’s Health. He is the biostatistics reviewer for the journal Menopause.
His research interests include primary prevention strategies for women with a focus on lipids and the vascular system, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), sex steroids, lipoprotein lipids and cardiovascular diseases and the effects of pre-pregnancy interventions to improve maternal and newborn intergenerational disease. He remains active in clinical, teaching and research arenas in Gynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility, Clinical Lipidology, Reproductive Epidemiology and Evidence Based Practice at the University of Oklahoma. He is widely published (over 200 peer-reviewed articles). He has been consistently funded since joining the Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center and is PI on over 50 grants/contracts from NIH, OCAST, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, Pharma and/or Foundations. He is currently funded through the NICHD through his R03 and is a past and current contributing member of the Reproductive Medicine Network.
