Dr. Kimberly Sommerville is a graduate of the University of West Indies (Mona) with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree and also has a Masters in Clinical Nutrition from the University of Aberdeen. She has a background in Internal and Family Medicine having worked at public hospitals and private practices in Kingston, Jamaica.
She is passionate about increasing awareness and providing support for women who struggle with the disorder known as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). As a woman with PCOS herself, she knows the daily struggles of this syndrome and is determined to make a positive change in the field. While studying in her Masters programme she did a research project, “Improving Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Management in Kingston, Jamaica (ImPOK)” which was entered in Jamaica’s Ministry of Health & Wellness’ 11th annual National Health Research Conference and won ‘Best Student Poster Presentation.’ She is also an executive member of the first PCOS Awareness campaign in Jamaica.
