
Lorna Berry
Panel Topic: The Lived Experiences of PCOS Patients
Lorna was born in New Zealand moving to Australia as an 11 year old, prior to this Lorna
had spent time in Scotland where here parents were born, attending school in all 3 countries.
She was the Victorian State delegate for POSAA for over 15 years and continues to
represent the voice of people living with PCOS as a consumer advocate on the CREWHIRL
PCOS guideline committee.
The journey to PCOS diagnosis was a challenge and took several years. She was also
diagnosed with ADHD at 51 after her eldest daughter was going through the ADHD
diagnosis process. Lorna is passionate about women's health and empowering women to be
informed about their health through evidence-based research and knowledge.
Lorna has worked in the corporate world as a sales account manager, managed
partnerships in federal, state and local government and has over 20 years of experience
working with families from birth to 18 years old. Currently, Lorna works, as a social worker, at
a community house in Melbourne Area as program coordinator of Integrated Family Support.
Her team take referrals, work with families in crisis and in her other roles works as a
disability/ youth worker, she has worked closely with children, young people and adults with
trauma, ID and complex behaviour across several settings including out-of-home care,
community engagement.
Lorna has a special interest in complex behaviour and trauma-informed care. Lorna is
committed to volunteering and is a committee member for Centre Research Excellence
Women’s Reproductive Health Monash University. She sits on a global committee as a
consumer representative for women with Polycystic- Ovarian Syndrome. She worked on the
update to the International Evidence Based Guidelines for the assessment and management
of Polycystic-Ovarian Syndrome. Most recently she has worked on the PCOS name change
project with the global team.
When she is not at work, she is walking her 2 dogs with husband or doing a jigsaw with her
mother. Lorna has 2 daughters age 12 and 28 and step son 20.
