Ricardo Azziz, MD, MPH, MBA

Dr. Azziz is an internationally recognized physician, scientist, and executive. His biomedical research focuses on the study of androgen excess disorders in women, having published over 500 original peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and reviews. He is the founder and former Executive Director/Senior Executive Director of the Androgen Excess & PCOS Society, the premier international organization dedicated to promoting the generation and dissemination of knowledge related to all aspects of androgen excess disorders in women. He has served as Deputy Director of the Clinical & Translational Sciences Institute and Assistant Dean for Clinical & Translational Sciences, and as Vice-Chair of Obstetrics & Gynecology, at UCLA; as Chair of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Director of the Center for Androgen-Related Disorders and at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles; as CEO of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, managing the largest international non-profit dedicated to advancing the care and science of reproductive medicine; and as Chief Science & Strategy Officer and EVP, Operations, Strategy, and Scientific Affairs for The Lundquist Institute for Biomedical Innovation at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Among other advisory capacities, he has served on multiple NIH committees, chaired the U.S. FDA Advisory Board on Reproductive Health Drugs, and served on the oversight committee for the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine. He has received, among other recognitions, the 2000 President’s Achievement Award of the Society for Gynecologic Investigation; elected member of the Association of American Physicians; recipient of the 2014 Alumni Fellow Award of the Pennsylvania State University Alumni Association, recipient of the 2022 PCOS Challenge ‘International Researcher of Influence Award’. He served as Senior Editor of eLife and is currently a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism. Dr. Azziz serves on the faculties of the University at Albany at SUNY and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and as Fellow of the Rockefeller Institute for Government.
