Hubert W. Vesper, Ph.D., is the director of the Clinical Standardization Programs at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC). In this function, he leads national and international programs and activities to improve patient care through laboratory standardization and harmonization such as the CDC Cardiovascular Diseases Biomarkers Standardization Program, and CDC Hormones Standardization Programs that include testosterone. Dr. Vesper provides expertise and support to several national and international programs and projects to standardize and harmonize disease biomarker measurements. As chair of the ISO TC212 working group 2, he oversees the development of ISO standards for reference laboratories and materials. As co-chair of the Partnership for the Accurate Testing of Hormones (PATH), he coordinates educational activities among its stakeholder organizations on clinical testing quality and standardization.
Dr. Vesper is author or co-author on over 100 publications including 8 clinical laboratory guidelines, clinical practice guidelines and recommendations.
