Alicia Lyle, PhD

Dr. Alicia N. Lyle is a Lead Research Chemist in the Protein Biomarker Laboratory in CCB-2 of the Division of Laboratory Sciences. She leads and oversees programs in the areas of standardization and biomonitoring, specifically for the development and application of laboratory methods for biomarkers and biomarker panels for chronic kidney diseases and cardiovascular diseases, such as hypertension. Her work aims to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of these diseases. This work not only involves improving the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results from patients but also improving the reference ranges to which patient results are compared.

Dr. Lyle joined the CDC in CCB-2 in 2019. Prior to that, Dr. Lyle was Assistant Professor of Medicine in Emory University’s Department of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology, where she conducted research on inflammatory proteins and their roles in regulating vascular diseases. She is a Fellow of the American Heart Association and currently, she serves on 7 external national and international committees dealing with chronic diseases and general clinical chemistry. Dr. Lyle has received several honors and awards for her research, and she has contributed to 33 scientific publications.
